Privacy Policy

This is a plain-language description prepared for development purposes, not a finished legal document. It describes what this platform actually does with user data today, for use during development and for OAuth provider app-review submissions (e.g. TikTok Login Kit). It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must undergo real legal review before this platform's public launch.

Who this covers

AucFree is a web auction platform. This policy describes the data AucFree collects and how it is used when you create an account, list an item, bid, or otherwise use the site.

Account sign-in

AucFree does not use passwords. You sign in with a third-party account instead. Today, sign-in is available via Google and Facebook. Sign-in via TikTok is planned but not yet available — it is pending TikTok's own Login Kit app review and a separate technical prerequisite, and is not offered on the site today.

Whichever provider you use, AucFree receives a unique identifier for your account with that provider, and typically a display name and profile picture. Email addresses are not guaranteed: Google and Facebook usually provide one, but AucFree does not require it, and when TikTok sign-in is enabled it will never provide an email address at all, under any permission TikTok grants for this kind of login. AucFree treats a missing email as a normal case, not an error — see Notifications, below, for what that means in practice.

What we store and use

  • Auction and bid activity — auctions you create, and bids you place, including their amounts and timestamps, as needed to run English, sealed-bid, and Dutch auctions. In a sealed-bid auction, your bid amount is not shown to other bidders before the auction closes.
  • Uploaded media — images, video, and documents you upload for your own auction listings (e.g. item photos, condition documentation). If you embed a third-party video (for example, from YouTube), AucFree stores only the provider name and the video's ID, and renders its own embed from that — it does not store or run embed code you paste in.
  • Notification read state — which notifications you've seen and when, so the notification panel described below can show you accurate read/unread status.

Notifications

AucFree notifies you about things like an auction closing soon, winning an auction, being outbid, and account suspension changes, through up to three channels:

  • In-app notification panel — the primary, authoritative record. Every notification is stored as a row you can view, with a read/unread state, regardless of whether the other channels below succeed.
  • Live in-app notice — a brief, auto-dismissing on-screen notice shown only to you, while you are using the site, for new notifications. It is personal to your own account — AucFree does not show a public feed of other users' bidding activity.
  • Email — best-effort and secondary, sent only if you have a verified email address on file. Not every account has one (see Account sign-in, above); if yours doesn't, you still receive notifications through the in-app panel.

Payment

AucFree does not process payments. When an auction ends, AucFree records the winner and the final price only. Payment and delivery are arranged directly between the winning bidder and the seller, off-platform. AucFree does not collect or store payment card, bank, or other financial account details.

Account suspension

An AucFree administrator can suspend specific permissions on an account (for example, bidding or listing new auctions) for a set period or indefinitely, as part of platform moderation. If your account is suspended, AucFree shows you the reason and, when applicable, when the suspension ends.

Who else sees this data

AucFree runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on AucFree's behalf to operate the site: Supabase (accounts, sign-in, the database, and storage for uploaded images), Vercel (site hosting), Cloudflare R2 (storage for larger uploaded video and document files), and Resend (sending the best-effort emails described above). AucFree does not sell user data.

Data access and deletion requests

To ask what data AucFree has about you, or to request deletion, contact privacy@aucfree.example (placeholder address — to be replaced with a real, monitored contact before this platform launches publicly).

Changes to this policy

This page may change as AucFree's features change. Since this document has not yet had legal review, treat it as a description of current behavior during development, not a binding commitment.
